posted Sep 21, 2018, 8:50 AM by Francesca Matthews

This is a reminder that if you're interested in being a voting member of Sheridan's 2018-19 School Council, please ensure that your forms are to the office first thing Friday (September 21st) morning.

This is what's coming up at Sheridan next week!

 Wednesday - Pizza Day

Thursday - is our Terry Fox Run. Please be sure to bring your toonie on Thursday for our Terry Fox Foundation fundraiser. The run will happen at 1:45pm and parents are welcome to join and are asked to please sign in at the office beforehand.

Thursday is also Sheridan's Open House from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Come and check out your child's classroom and meet our new Principal Ms. Wright and all the teachers! Stories from Around the World - We'd like to showcase the diversity of our community by having volunteers  read stories in their first language to students. Stop by to see Ms. Phi Tran (ESL teacher) during Open House for more information.

Friday is Orange Shirt Day. Inspired by the story of Phyllis (Jack) Webstad, Orange Shirt Day is held annually on September 30th. Phyllis was a student at St. Joseph Mission Residential School in Williams Lake B.C. Orange Shirt Day is inspired by her experience on her first day at Residential School. Join the Halton District School Board in recognizing the harm the Residential School system did to the identity, self-esteem, and well-being of First Nations, Métis, Inuit children and communities. Let's show our support and reinforce the fact that everyone around us matters and that our actions help move us towards truth and reconciliation. HDSB schools and education centres are encouraged to recognize the day on Friday, September 28th so that students and staff can bring the learning home for September 30th.

Friday is also our QSP Magazine Fundraiser Kick-Off. Your children will bring home all the information for this awesome fundraiser
